IT Systems Engineer

An opportunity exists for an IT Systems Engineer to join the IT team in Brisbane.  The purpose of the IT Systems Engineer is to support the IT infrastructure of Ray White Group and associated businesses. The role is essential in providing a stable and reliable technology experience for corporate staff and franchise members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, support and enhance infrastructure for a range of networks and systems (Networking, Windows, Linux and Cloud environments)
  • Provide technical expertise to internal and external customers
  • Participate in new project initiatives
  • Strong problem solving and analytical abilities. Strong problem solving skills through analysis of logs and configuration
  • Undertake any other duties within your capabilities as may be reasonably required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred but not essential
  • 5+ years working within networking and infrastructure
  • In-depth knowledge of operating systems: Linux / Unix / CentOS / RHEL / Windows
  • In-depth knowledge of networking: switching, routing, firewalls, VoIP, wireless
  • Thorough knowledge of information security practices: methodology, tools, policies, frameworks
  • Thorough knowledge of at least one modern programming/scripting language
  • Thorough experience and understanding in the principles and practices around automated provisioning, redundancy, backup, recovery, monitoring and performance management
  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Good team player, self-motivated and willing to learn new technologies
  • Flexible to work after hours as required
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent problem solving & analytical abilities including debugging and performance improvements
  • Collaboration skills - ability to adopt and encourage a cooperative approach to all internal and external relationships
  • Receptive to constructive feedback
  • Resilient and adaptable. Ability to embrace, accept and adapt to change
  • Certification, a working knowledge and/or experience in the following areas is desirable:
  • Google Apps
  • Amazon Web Services
  • Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployments
